Overview
Are you interested in playing a vital role in providing technical support for computer systems, hardware, software, and networking issues?
The University Services department is seeking applicants for a Client Support Specialist III at our SIUE East St. Louis Center. The ideal applicant is responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining IT solutions, with a focus on resolving customer service problems and managing the refresh of leased computers across campus. They will also provide direct support for computer labs and classrooms.
Located just 20 miles south of the SIUE campus, the SIUE East St. Louis Center connects the community with the research, faculty, students and credibility that a nationally recognized university brings. SIUE East St. Louis Center programs prepare more than 2,000 youth in grades Pre-K-12 each year for successful futures, and provide educational, health care, and other community-based resources to the greater St. Clair and Madison County area.
What You Will Do
· Technical Support: Resolve hardware, software, and networking issues; maintain and configure IT systems; assist with computer labs and classroom setups; handle service tickets and requests.
· Project Management: Lead internal and external IT projects, including planning, procurement, and overseeing staff. Manage project tasks and ensure alignment with goals.
· Program & Technology Planning: Implement campus-wide software installations, support server-based solutions, and coordinate with other ITS units.
· Training & Supervision: Mentor and train student workers, oversee civil service staff on special assignments.
· Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and copyright laws; maintain accurate technical documentation.
What You Will Have
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1.
- Bachelor’s and one year of experience in a related field -OR-
- Associates degree and three years’ experience in a related field -OR-
- Five years of experience in a related field.
2.
- Any combination totaling five years from the following categories:
- progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession.
- college course work which included Information Technology (IT), or a closely related discipline. All experience can be concurrent.
3.
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position are required:
- 5 years installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software;
- 5 years demonstrable knowledge of scripting languages OR programming, and programming theory and practice;
- 5 years troubleshooting computer networking technology, servers, services, and related protocols such as TCP/IP, NETBIOS, AppleTalk, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11;
- 5 years installing, maintaining, administering, and trouble shooting multiple operating system platforms such as DOS, MS-Windows, Apple Mac OS, iOS, Android, UNIX, etc.;
- 5 years Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or alternate large scale imaging experience;
- 5 years maintaining systems in an Active Directory environment;
- 5 years remote software deployment experience;
- 1 years demonstrable project management experience;
- 1 years supervisory experience

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
