Description
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Institute for Community Justice and Racial Equity (ICJRE) strives to achieve equity, racial justice, and positive transformational change for southwestern Illinois' historically marginalized communities. In partnership with the largest child advocacy organization in the United States, the Children's Defense Fund, the ICJRE sponsors a CDF Freedom Schools® program. The CDF Freedom Schools® model provides meaningful engagement opportunities for our campus community by bringing together SIUE faculty, staff, and students with children, families, and community volunteers in order to impact educational equity.
The Site Coordinator oversees daily operations and supervises one CDF Freedom Schools program site. Ideally, candidates will have prior experience as a CDF Freedom Schools Servant Leader Intern and demonstrate strong leadership skills to manage an intergenerational staff. The Site Coordinator should be committed to the program's goals, work well with all stakeholders, and be familiar with the community's culture and needs.
Responsibilities :
Serve in a supervisory capacity for the Servant Leader Interns, reporting to the Project Director.
- Work in conjunction with site leadership to recruit, hire, train and manage staff.
- Work with site leadership to recruit children and families that are our most
vulnerable populations.
o Secure staff background checks and clearances.
o Guarantee onsite safety procedures and protocols are in compliance with The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
o Communicate and confirm that all staff, scholars, and parents have an understanding of site guidelines.

About Extra Help Positions :
Extra Help job listings typically close 24 hours after the opening date, unless specified in the closing date. Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.
Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.

Additional Information : This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
