The IT Technical Associate -Application Developer I, is responsible for supporting the SIU System's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) programming needs. As a programming staff member, they will have responsibilities for working with the technical team leads and Project Coordinators to provide technical analysis, design, development, unit, and integration testing for the appropriate solution.
Analyzes, develops, tests, and / or modifies hardware and software solutions to meet user and / or systems integration requirements. Reviews, analyzes, and recommends the best approach and overall design for computer application development and programming projects for business, scientific, and research applications. Advises designated personnel concerning the magnitude of programming jobs, time requirements for programming, debugging, and testing. Installs new, modified or third-party software releases and / or updates. Modifies existing software and creates special-purpose software to ensure efficiency and integrity between systems and applications. Develops program specifications and reviews with the user to ensure that requirements are met. Designs user-friendly interfaces to systems, applications and databases.
The IT Technical Associate - Application Developer I will support one or more of the SIU ERP tools, including :
- AIS (Administrative Information System) : The SIU System's administrative toolset that integrates each campus with the President's office, encompassing ERP modules such as Human Resources, Payroll, General Ledger, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, and Fixed Assets.
- SIS (Student Information System) : The toolset for SIU Carbondale that supports Enrollment Management, including Admissions, Bursar, Registrar, and Financial Aid functions.
- Third-Party and Custom Applications : In addition to the ERP solutions, the incumbent will assist in the creation and maintenance of interfaces with several third-party and custom applications.
This position reports to a Technical Team Lead. They may take direction (in a matrixed fashion) from the Project Coordinator(s) or Level II, III, IV and V Technical Associates. Ideally, there will be a team of IT Technical Associates, across all skill levels, working to support the ERP initiatives at SIU.

Qualifications
A. College course work which includes Information Systems Technologies (IST), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Programming, IT Management, or business-related discipline, including coursework in application development, programming, or database technologies, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent :

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
