Starting wage for this position is established by the prevailing rate for Jackson County. Information can be found :
Employees at this level of the series perform work requiring skill in the trade of sheet metal workers. They work under direct supervision from a designated supervisor.
Examples of Duties
- reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisor(s) to determine work requirements;
- assembles, fabricates, repairs, and installs sheet metal products such as ducts, control boxes, gutters, furnaces, and HVAC systems;
- prepares, inspects, and maintains equipment and supplies;
- cleans and maintains work areas and equipment;
- maintains current knowledge of all relevant regulations, standards, and safety procedures;
performs other related duties as assigned.

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, candidates must be a current Illinois resident.

About Civil Service Examination / Testing : The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination / testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
