The Southern Indiana Education Center (SIEC) is one of nine educational service centers in Indiana. Our center is located in southwestern Indiana (Jasper) and encompasses thirteen counties. Our organization serves 36 member school districts and embraces growth opportunities that will support our schools. To that end and most recently, we have developed a new division: SIEC Division of Apprenticeships and Employer Partnerships. This division will serve as a regional intermediary between schools and employers as well as foster the development of robust, work-based learning opportunities for students and employers. These learning opportunities prove to be beneficial to employers and engaging and meaningful for students.
This is a grant funded position for one year through December 2025. There is potential, but no promise that this position will continue beyond this grant year. The newly appointed SIEC Project Protege Program Manager will report to and work closely with the SIEC Executive Director to ensure the establishment of an intermediary presence in the southwest region. Below are the qualifications and expertise this position requires.
- Maintain healthy, robust partnerships with and between high schools, employers and higher education partners in the SIEC region.
FOCUS: Development of Apprenticeships and Employer Partnerships
- Cultivate and sustain meaningful, supportive and productive relationships with employers in the SIEC region. This is so that we might serve to formalize & systemize higher levels of work based learning in the region(youth apprenticeships, registered apprenticeships)
- Youth Apprenticeships - Create the framework and implementation plan needed for the development & ultimate success of these opportunities. This framework includes various levels of guidance and support as well as training for students and employer mentors.
- To be successful with the above, the successful candidate will want to:
- Develop and sustain knowledge of the status of pathways in each of the SIEC districts by partnering with high schools, specifically admin, counselors or their designee.
- Refine knowledge of higher ed institutions that serve SIEC schools in supporting related instruction for work-based learning opportunities
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in legislation that impact Indiana high schools like Indiana high school redesign and the latest definitions of levels of work-based learning.
- Have or gain knowledge of:
- High Quality Pathways ( NLPS)
- Indiana’s latest Levels of Work-based Learning - Become the number one “go to” for school districts and employers in the strategic development of high levels of work based learning in our region.
- Willingness to travel to other parts of the, state, or country, to learn best practices
- Contribute ideas/Work well in a team environment yet willing to accept guidance
- Planning of SIEC Community of Practice Events
- Collaborate and foster relationships with like entities in the SIEC region - Other Intermediaries, Workforce Boards, Chambers of Commerce and Local Economic Development Organizations
- Support CSAs (Career Scholarship Accounts), career fairs, and career coaching in the SIEC region
- Engage with and support other SIEC staff members to advance the work and mission of SIEC as a whole.
- Keep abreast of changing economy and potential impacts like AI - how the upskill of students might be changing, or will need to change
- Responsible for timeliness and high quality development of communication & marketing materials for this program
- Responsible for the navigation of social media consistently for purposes of sharing positive news
- Represent SIEC at regional and state-wide events in ways that strengthen our mission and communicate our message.
- Possess a strong work ethic, be open to innovation and willing to take risks
- Possess confidence and expertise to leverage technology when needed, i.e., research, social media, Zoom meetings, or other virtual meeting tools.
- Expect other duties as assigned and as needs evolve over the course of time to meet the changing landscape of education.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $68,000 - $70,000 based on experience and qualifications.
