Position Summary
Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN is seeking a full-time Senior Paralegal to join our dynamic team. The Senior Paralegal will provide a range of legal support and administration to attorneys and other legal professionals in the company’s legal department.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions from contract preparation through closing and post-closing.
- Assist with commercial real estate due diligence, including title and survey reviews, title objection letters, lease reviews, municipal lien searches, and UCC, judgment, litigation and lien searches.
- Prepare organizational documents and assist in entity formation.
- Prepare closing checklists, critical dates timelines, closing statements, title and other affidavits, entity authorizations, and customary closing documentation.
- Coordinate and maintain responsibility for organization and filing of documentation.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Must have strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, as well as the ability to learn and use proprietary computer systems and databases.
- Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in person.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in as a paralegal in a medium to large sized law firm, commercial title insurance company, or another professional services environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal Certification preferred; equivalent experience considered.
