Medical Billing Representative

Southern Maryland Medical Group is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing representative to join our healthcare team. The medical billing representative will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable process, ensuring accurate and timely billing, and resolving any billing issues. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collections and minimize outstanding balances.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and patient accounts, including contacting insurance companies and patients to resolve issues.
• Accurately post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Maintain detailed and organized documentation of all billing and collection activities.
• Answer primary care billing questions for patients.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, insurance companies, and internal staff.

Requirements

• 1 year exeperince in Medical billing
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding (ICD-10, ICD-9).
• Familiarity with medical office operations and healthcare reimbursement processes.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and insurance companies.
• Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
