What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional ALC position at Southern Minnesota Education Consortium?

SMEC is a cooperative of rural school districts working collaboratively to support the needs of all learners. We are looking to fill multiple positions across the consortium with paraprofessional support. This is a year round position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the special education teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities
- Provide support and assistance to students, some with special needs in an Alternative Learning Environment
- Help students develop literacy skills through reading and writing activities
- Assist with curriculum development and modification to meet individual student needs
- Support students in math concepts and problem-solving skills
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
- Experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of education principles and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the special education teacher and other staff members
