SMEC is a cooperative of rural school districts working collaboratively to support the needs of all learners. We are looking to fill multiple positions across the consortium with paraprofessional support. Estimated start date of August 19, 2024. This is a year-round position.
Duties:
- Assist in implementing behavior management strategies for children with special needs
- Provide support and assistance to children in a classroom setting
- Help create and implement curriculum development activities for students
- Support the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with autism or other special needs
- Assist with daily routines, including mealtime, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patience and understanding when working with children with special needs
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a team
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with curriculum development for school-aged children
- Experience working in a school or childcare facility preferred

Pay: $16.54 - $21.57 per hour
