What are the responsibilities and job description for the Disease Investigation & Intervention Specialist I position at Southern Nevada Health District?
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Disease Investigation and Intervention Specialist I in the Department of Disease Surveillance. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification in the Department of Disease Surveillance for up to four (4) months.
This position is funded by a grant and the continuation of the position depends on the availability of grant funds and the business requirements of SNHD. If the funding is discontinued or becomes unavailable, your employment may be terminated without the right to appeal.
Assists with duties related to the investigation, identification, surveillance, and prevention of communicable diseases; provides health education on disease prevention and control; conducts professional interaction with healthcare providers and the public on disease related issues; and performs related duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public health, epidemiology, biological sciences, health education, or a closely related physical science field, OR an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
- Valid Nevada driver’s license, or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
- N95 Mask Fit Testing required within six (6) months of employment.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) certification for 100, 200, 700, and 800 within six (6) months of employment.
