What are the responsibilities and job description for the Provider Relations & Network Specialist position at Southern New England Healthcare?
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for providing quality, accessible and comprehensive service to SoNE Health’s provider community. Develops and maintains positive provider relationships with provider community via a mixture of email, telephonic and face-to-face outreach, by communicating administrative and programmatic changes, and facilitating education and the resolution of provider issues. Serves as a knowledge and resource expert regarding provider issues impacting provider satisfaction; researches and resolves complex provider issues for prompt resolution. Takes initiative to address process improvement opportunities bringing together SMEs to root cause issues and create meaningful process improvements related to network and SoNE Health’s priorities and workflows as assigned by Director.
Coordinates communication externally with providers on important SoNE initiatives and conducts routine outreach to support the understanding and participation in SoNE initiatives. Coordinates and conducts provider training including developing and distributing provider relations materials. May help organize and execute external Provider Webinars, Practice Administrator Forums and Provider Network Events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Solidify the provider network affiliated with SoNE Health through the support of existing provider members within the network.
- Provide critical input to management on corrections and/or enhancements to the current operational process of maintaining provider network data to gain efficiencies that support current, comprehensive, and accurate demographics therein.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with providers, communicating key organizational initiatives. Disseminate information about SoNE Health initiatives and changes/updates to established programs and business solutions offerings.
- Serve as liaison between provider members and various internal SoNE departments and management.
- Onboard and conduct program orientation for new providers to the network.
- Enhance the current relationship between the organization and its provider members by communicating the value SoNE Health brings to providers and their practices.
- Develop, manage, and support strong relations within the network through networking events, meet and greets and provide to provider introductions and connections where appropriate.
- Serve as key primary resource for independent providers.
- Serve as a key resource focused on optimizing communication, serving as an advocate, and building collaborative relationships and effective partnerships with provider members of SoNE Health, and their practice.
- Travel to or virtually visit provider practices regularly to support network needs.
- Collaborate with marketing team to stress the importance of relationship building and propose marketing plan suggestions in support of provider network interests.
- Works collaboratively with other functional areas that interact with provider offices.
- Identify and promote internal and external resources as needed to implement services and programs:
- Facilitate and promote programs beneficial to the organization and the provider.
- Promote and build awareness of differentiating services and benefits to community providers and benefits of SoNE Health services.
- Establish, develop, and maintain effective and engaged relationships with identified providers through routine meetings, ensuring obstacles to business growth and retention are identified, mitigated, or eliminated.
- Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly engagement reports to Director outlining practice meetings and issues, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Serve as primary resource to review monthly provider directory detail before promoting to SoNE Health website

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree; 5 years of health system or health plan experience working with providers, hospitals, and health plans.
- Proven record of successful provider relationship management in an ACO, Health System or Health Plan.
- Knowledge of Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid contract terms and reimbursement, Accountable Care Organizations, Value Based Payment methodologies and Population Health Management Strategies
- Ability to learn new systems, software, etc.
- Advanced MS skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Experience with analysis and development of various Physician and Hospital reimbursement models.
- Valid Driver’s license required. Travel to practice locations is required within this position, greater than 80% of the time.
- Ability to navigate virtual meeting platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
- Broad understanding of current trends and strategies within the healthcare field
- Strong collaboration and partnering skills to develop productive working partnerships with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision of daily tasks.
- Strong professional business acumen and ability to work with external partner organizations to gather information, share data, and effectively move initiatives forward.
