The Medical Records Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient records. This position provides essential clerical support and is responsible for managing all aspects of medical records operations while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with team members to support efficient workflows and ensure seamless patient record management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process, obtain, and transfer patient records efficiently.
- Manage incoming faxes, indexing, scanning, and mailing of medical records.
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient record requests, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with patients, staff, and management to resolve record-related inquiries, escalating issues as needed.
- Work effectively as part of a team to support daily medical records operations and maintain a positive, cooperative work environment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient, employee, and organizational information.
- Assist in optimizing systems for accurate patient registration and contribute ideas to improve efficiency in medical record management.
