Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Specialist creates effective marketing, public relations, and fund development materials to support the goal, mission, and operations of Southern Oregon Goodwill (SOGI). This position ensures that the SOGI brand is accurately visible, relevant, and communicated in various media, both internal and external. Coordinates with the Director of Marketing and Communications to support related department functions and programs in the areas of traditional and social media marketing and promotions, public relations, advertising, fund development and event production.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Supports marketing and development efforts for such activities as promotions, email and direct mail campaigns, special events, retail advertising, and press and community outreach events.
Produces marketing collateral and assists with content development and asset sourcing/development.
Coordinates production activities and works with internal staff to maintain inventory levels of materials.
Develops and designs campaign specific content and ensures consistency across all channels.
Partners with leadership to ensure Goodwill has a presence in the community at a variety of events and functions (including possible after hours events) ensuring our mission is publicized and as a way to garner support from current and potential stakeholders.
Writes media releases and engages in other written activites that support the organizations objectives, including various print media submissions, grant writing, blogs and blog maintenance, and other professional writing needs.
Coordinates the management of our social media platforms and website on behalf of the organization to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Helps with the planning, coordination, and execution of all internal and external events to support community outreach efforts.
Works with the leadership team to coordinate outside vendor activities relevant to marketing responsibilities (ex., signage)
Assists with department administration, including but not limited to: maintaining files and archives, correspondence, purchase orders, expense reports, invoicing, equipment, supplies, and mail.
Work to integrate sustainable practices into your daily tasks to support reducing waste, recycling efforts, associate retention, and other initiatives to help cultivate a culture of sustainability within the organization.

Qualifications:
Education, training and credentialing appropriate for a junior level marketing and public relations professional.
Possess exceptional writing, editing, and communications skills with an eye for clever design.
Fully proficient in a Windows-based computer environment as well as InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop, and various social media platforms.
Willing and able to follow Southern Oregon Goodwills formal Code of Conduct.

Able to independently manage tasks and set priorities.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in relevant fields preferred, along with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in marketing and/or the public relations field. Commensurate experience will be considered as substitution for the educational requirements.
Experience writing copy for business (newsletters, brochures, media releases), and preparing and delivering presentations to groups of diverse sizes.
