What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler, Shipping/Receiving position at Southern Specialties?
Southern Specialties is looking for a Material Handler - Shipping /Receiving that will work at our climate-controlled facility, where tight tolerance sheet metal products are produced. They accurately and swiftly perform stock-keeping functions for incoming and outgoing goods, including loading and unloading parts to and from machines, counting and stacking parts on pallets, moving pallets or carts between staging areas, packaging, assembly and stocking parts on shelves.

- Perform stock-keeping functions for incoming goods, packaging, and inventory counting.
- Monitor printer for picking tickets to ensure orders are picked on time.
- Unpack and verify the receipt of all customer-returned goods.
- Support ongoing processes and operations.
- Perform weekly cycle counts.
- Unpack and verify by count and item identification the receipt of all goods delivered to Southern Specialties from vendors.
- Assist in loading and unloading goods.

Generally, 95% of the normal work shift requires standing bending, squatting, and climbing while performing assembly work, inspecting work, machines, and checking assembly procedures.
Lifting of parts, weighting up to 50 pounds, from floor level, and carrying them 10 to 15 feet may be required. Lifting devices and team lifting should be used when possible. The job area requires moving of material and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Parts must be lifted, pulled, pushed, and held in place, without benefit of material handling devices due to limited space and confined areas in and around machines.
