GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
Responsible for maintaining and developing customers while representing Southern Steel & Supply in the selling of Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless.
JOB ACTIVITIES
Essential Functions
1. Work closely with Outside Salesman, meet or exceed Sales and Gross Profit objectives.
2. Must be extremely knowledgeable with Southern’s products, processes and procedures.
3. Become familiar with Mill Tolerances and Southern’s cutting schedules.
4. Utilizing the telephone with proper etiquette foster positive business relationships by building goodwill and developing account rapport with Southern customers.
5. Accurately write up Sales Orders with correct product description, code, quantity and delivery.
6. Knowledge of Quality Assurance Program and procedures.
7. Quote prices from established pricing matrix for all stock items. For large volumes and/or non-stock items, obtain prices and delivery from Sale Manager and/or Marketing. Relay competitive price information to Marketing.
8. Professionally handle all customer complaints, including initial documentation for authorization of returned goods (RGA’s).
9. Assist in the preparation of customer profiles. Include such things as:
Customer’s Name, Address, Telephone Number, Purchasing Agent, Products Purchased, Key Employees and other relevant customer information.
10. Actively use Call-Out solicitation to increase Sales by:
Qualifying Sales leads, activating dormant accounts, Contacting small/marginal accounts, and Telephoning those accounts that are geographically difficult to physically visit.
11. May be required to visit major accounts with Outside Salesmen.
Daily Specifics
1. Answer phones promptly.
2. Write orders clearly.
3. Code orders correctly.
4. Match confirmations daily.
5. Check deliveries/non-deliveries every A.M.
6. Advise customers when orders are not shipped on time.
7. Expedite orders and back orders.
8. Price quotes using customer set up or as directed by the manager.
9. Furnish copies of quotes to Outside Salesmen.
10. Follow-up on quotes next day.
11. Handle complaints-Advise management where problems may exist.
12. Pull tickets with pricing errors for Credits.
13. Furnish proof of deliveries when questioned.
14. Write RGA’s.
15. Coordinate non-stock items with Sales Manager.
16. Coordinate large inquiries with Sales Manager.
17. Keep record of top customers and their purchases.
18. Use Call-Out solicitation.
19. Make periodic calls on top accounts with Salesmen.
Non-Essential Functions
1. Not required to visit the plant to confirm material.
2. Not required to visit major accounts with Outside Salesmen.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
