Job Title: Technical Services Librarian
The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for managing the process of acquiring new library materials, tracking collection development budgets, supervising student employees, and performing other technical services/resource sharing related duties as required by the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process orders for new library materials, including creating purchase orders or paying with a university purchase card as necessary, and tracking orders through receiving and payment processing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with vendors, publishers, consortia, university departments, and library faculty/staff for print and electronic resource acquisitions.
- Track budgets of library liaisons and individual departments, keeping library faculty apprised of budget use and ordering deadlines.
- Manage the life cycle of electronic resources, including trials, acquisition, license and price negotiation, access management, renewals, and cancellations.
- Support library acquisitions by providing information such as costs, publishers, and catalogs to library faculty selecting new materials for their liaison areas.
- Work with the collection development librarian in receiving and processing in-kind gifts items to the library.
- Coordinate and facilitate library book sales.
- Interview, hire, and supervise student employees.
- Produce reports and maintain statistics in support of library acquisition budgets and management as needed.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Broad computer experience, including demonstrated knowledge of computer technologies (spreadsheets, online ordering, acquisitions databases, etc.) and automated library systems.
- Demonstrated good communication and human relations skills, with the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in transcribing essential information.
- Knowledge and/or experience of basic accounting procedures.
- Completion of a university-level collection development course or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous library experience or coursework.
This is a 11-month contract position contingent on funding.
