POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing guardian ad litem, special advocacy, parent coordination, and mediation services as assigned through Court appointment and clinical supervisor. Responsible for psycho-social educational classes for youth as assigned by clinical supervisor. Responsible for case management activities and/or counseling services involving assigned adults and juveniles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides guardian ad litem, special advocate investigation or parent coordination services through court appointment and/or assigned by the clinical supervisor.
2. Provides family advocacy and mediation services as assigned by the clinical supervisor.
3. Provides individual or group psycho-educational and/or counseling to high-risk youth and/or adults who are court ordered or referred for individualized behavior management programming, trauma and loss psychoeducation; and/or other counseling services.
4. May provide facilitation of school-based psycho-educational classes to high school youth and equine therapy programs for youth and families.
5. Conducts individual and family interviews, home visits, and write summary reports with recommendations to the Court for assessment of the needs of the individual or family.
6. Meets with appropriate family members and care providers of Court Support Services participants to provide communication and increase family support regarding issues of family conflict.
7. Transports program participants as necessary using a Tribal vehicle.
8. Interacts with other agencies, both within and outside of the Tribe, to provide additional services and referrals for youth, adults and/or families involved with Court Support Services.
9. Maintains records of attendance, participation, skill achievement and individual accomplishments for each client through case files and electronic database.
10. Provides documentation for quarterly and yearly progress reports for grant compliance and implementation.
11. Prepares public information presentations to Tribal members, community members and other individuals and/or agencies requesting information about the court support services.
12. Completes necessary trainings to develop and maintain guardian ad litem, special advocate, parent coordination, and mediation services and psycho-educational and counseling skills.
13. Attends required meetings and in-service trainings.
14. Performs other job-related duties as required or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a BA/BS in Sociology, Psychology, Education, or other Human Services discipline.
Must have 2 years of recent experience in one, or a combination, of the following: providing guardian ad litem services, providing special advocate (child and family investigator services) and working as a Social Worker for a recognized social work agency.
Must have experience providing behavior management counseling to high-risk youth and/or adults.
Must have experience working with families in conflict.
Must have experience conducting individual and family interviews, home visits, and writing summary reports with recommendations.
Must have experience identifying community resources to maximize the effectiveness of treatment venues.
Must not have any open, on-going, or pending cases with the Southern Ute Indian Tribal Court.
Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.
Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Education or other Human Services discipline.
LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
Knowledge and familiarity with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and/or Native American Tribes or organizations.
Experience working with Native American youth.
