The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and motivated Executive Director. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment while balancing a variety of responsibilities, from event planning and marketing to business advocacy and financial management.
As the face of the Chamber, the Executive Director will drive membership growth, oversee marketing initiatives, coordinate events, and foster strong relationships with local businesses and stakeholders. This position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and making a tangible impact on the local business community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chamber Operations & Leadership
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber Visitor’s Center, including facility management.
- Hire, train, and manage Chamber staff.
- Report to the Board of Directors and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
- Represent the Chamber in meetings, conferences, and trade shows.
- Marketing, Social Media & Public Relations
- Manage and grow the Chamber’s social media presence and website.
- Promote the Deerfield Valley region and Chamber members through digital marketing campaigns.
- Identify and implement innovative marketing strategies to attract visitors and support local businesses.
- Event Management & Community Engagement
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Chamber-sponsored events, including networking functions, tourism initiatives, and community celebrations.
- Work with vendors, sponsors, and local organizations to ensure successful events.
- Oversee event budgets, logistics, and marketing promotions.
- Membership Growth & Business Advocacy
- Recruit, retain, and engage Chamber members through targeted outreach and networking.
- Serve as a liaison between local businesses and government agencies, advocating for business-friendly policies.
- Participate in statewide and regional economic development discussions.
- Financial & Administrative Management
- Maintain financial oversight, including budgeting, QuickBooks management, and monthly financial reporting.
- Oversee grant applications, permitting, and fundraising efforts.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and other administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency in social media management, website maintenance, and digital marketing.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in Chamber leadership, sales, event planning, marketing, or related fields.
- Financial acumen, including budget management and QuickBooks experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with businesses, community leaders, and government officials.
- Willingness to work some weekends and attend special events. The position demands the ability to work multiple weekends throughout the year, attend special events and local meetings that often occur in the evenings.
- Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time during events.
- Ability to work in person in our Wilmington, Vermont Visitor’s Center location.
