The Supplier Development Manager is responsible for managing and enhancing relationships with key suppliers to drive performance, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience within an industrial supply distribution environment. This role focuses on supplier evaluation, strategic development, and continuous improvement to ensure product availability, quality, and compliance with company standards. The Supplier Development Manager will work closely with procurement, category management, and operations teams to optimize supplier performance and build long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Development & Performance Management
Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers to support business growth and operational needs.
Develop and implement supplier improvement initiatives to enhance quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor supplier KPIs, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement corrective action plans as needed.
Work with suppliers to drive process improvements, cost reductions, and innovation opportunities.
Strategic Sourcing & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term strategic partnerships.
Negotiate supplier agreements, contracts, and service-level expectations to align with business objectives.
Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, product availability, and inventory management efficiency.
Conduct supplier site visits, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Supply Chain Optimization & Risk Mitigation
Work with internal teams to identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure supplier continuity planning, alternative sourcing, and risk management strategies are in place.
Lead initiatives to streamline procurement processes and enhance supplier collaboration using data analytics.
Quality, Compliance & Sustainability
Ensure suppliers meet quality assurance standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Work with suppliers to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve packaging and logistics efficiencies.
Drive sustainable sourcing initiatives and ensure suppliers align with environmental and ethical sourcing standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
5 years of experience in supplier development, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally within Industrial supply distribution (e.g., MRO, construction, manufacturing, or wholesale distribution).
Strong knowledge of supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and supply chain optimization.
Experience working with industrial suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics providers.
Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
