The Southington Housing Authority is seeking a reliable and skilled Part-Time Maintenance Person to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive environment, providing essential maintenance services to a residential community primarily consisting of elderly and disabled tenants.
Position Overview:
- Position: Part-Time Maintenance Person
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- On-Call: Rotating basis for emergency calls outside regular hours
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
- Plumbing repairs (leaky faucets, clogged drains, etc.)
- Electrical repairs (light fixtures, outlets, etc.)
- HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance
- Painting, patching, and minor carpentry
- Appliance repairs and replacements
- Groundskeeping and snow removal as needed
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from tenants and staff.
- Ensure common areas, facilities, and grounds are clean and well-maintained.
- Provide courteous and professional service to tenants, particularly the elderly and disabled, with sensitivity to their needs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tenants and staff.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and kneeling.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Experience working with elderly and disabled populations is preferred.
