What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Survey position at Southland Construction, Inc.?
Southland Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. We have an immediate opening for a Jr. Party Chief / Instrument Person in the Orlando, Florida area.
The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience and education in the field and/or office setting working with surveying equipment, software, and technology.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
Field Survey Duties
- Unloads and deploys equipment and materials.
- Assists survey crew with chaining and measuring, setting forward stationing.
- Responsible for correct data collection
- Responsible for care of Equipment.
- Responsible for setting up and taking down all equipment.
- Records data, sketches, visual inspections, etc.
- Clears brush and small limbs as necessary to obtain line of sight readings.
Responsibility for Equipment
- Gathers equipment and materials necessary for survey field work and loads them in the survey vehicle.
- Prepares the survey vehicle for the field verifying that all the necessary equipment and materials are loaded and ready for a prompt departure from the office.
- Is mindful of the location of all equipment taking into the field and assures that all equipment used is returned to the survey vehicle before leaving the site.
- Responsible for care of Equipment.
- Responsible for setting up and taking down all equipment.
- Upon return to the office unloads equipment, cleans equipment and charges and makes sure that batteries are charged and/or replaced so that equipment is ready for the next use. Downloads digital photos from the day to the project directory as supervised.
- Notifies Licensed Land Surveyor of need for additional stocks of consumables such as stakes, nails, flagging, monuments or marker paint.
- Performs field staking as needed
Qualifications:
- 3-4 years’ experience
- Bridge Experience preferred but not necessary
- High School Diploma with excellent skills in Mathematics, penmanship and communication
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
