What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNITY COALITION COORDINATOR position at Southside Behavioral Health?

Southside Behavioral Health is looking for an individual who will be responsible for developing and maintaining community awareness in each county for the purpose of promoting substance abuse prevention programs for at-risk youth by assessing community needs and active coordination with other agencies. This position must use prevention strategies that have a demonstrated evidence-based, and are appropriate for the population(s) focus. The person will work in collaboration with the Prevention Director, and other prevention services staff to respond to information requests in a timely manner, assist in collecting data for the Performance Based Prevention System, and submit reports by established deadlines. Additionally, under the supervision of the Prevention Director, the Community Coalition Coordinator will coordinate the activities of community collaboration, serving as a liaison between SBH and other community organizations, representing and promoting Prevention throughout the catchment area and our region. This person will train the Trainer in various prevention intervention strategies such as but not limited to, ACEs, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, REVIVE and assist in strategies and priorities as determined by SBH leadership team and DBHDS.
Responsibilities
- Organizes and maintains prevention programs in each county, including meetings on a regular basis; keeps a calendar up to date and shares that calendar with agency leadership
- Support the continued growth of the Southside Wellness Coalition and the Trauma Awareness and Resilience Partners (TICN).
- Coordinate collaborative activities with local partners to develop and strengthen partnerships with both the agency, coalition and TICN
- Presenting and speaking to groups
- Receive trainer certification in multiple evidence based training
- Provide evidence based training to community members
- Participate in state-level prevention projects and participate in state and/ national conferences
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (Required)
- At least two years experience with providing educational opportunities and/or training to adults; experience with speaking and making presentations to groups;
- Experience with community outreach and conversations with stakeholders; willingness to develop new relationships and partnerships in the community;
- Previous work experience with at-risk youth (Preferred)
- Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
