The Quality Assurance Coordinator (QAC) supports the Director of Quality and Compliance to ensure that Southside Behavioral Health (SBH) adheres to all necessary regulatory requirements and maintains high standards of quality care. This position is responsible for updating, enforcing, and reporting SBH policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including those from DBHDS, DMAS, and other governing bodies. The QAC plays a vital role in Southside Behavioral Health’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Risk Management Plan by monitoring, auditing, and ensuring continuous quality improvement (CQI) across the agency’s services, including Behavioral Health Services, Crisis Services, and Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability (ID/DD). They assist in identifying trends, potential issues, and solutions to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and improve service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement the Quality Management System, Risk Management Plan and/or Emergency Preparedness Plan for the agency.
- Conduct routine audits across Behavioral Health, Crisis, ID/DD, and Substance Abuse services to ensure regulatory compliance, accurate reimbursements, and effective documentation, including conducting exit audits for departing employees with caseloads and payback requests.
- Monitor and report client incident reports to DBHDS and/or MCOs as required.
- Develop and maintain auditing tools to measure compliance and service quality through both quantitative and qualitative data
- Continuously review and report on quality assurance, compliance, and risk management functions to the Director of Quality and Compliance.
- Provide training and consultation to staff on quality practices, best practices, and regulatory requirements
- Attend and participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee
- Assist with investigations and complaints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Organizational Management, or a related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of experience in Human Services is required.
- Experience in quality control coordination, monitoring work processes, and/or relevant service provision.
- Familiarity with behavioral health, crisis services, and/or developmental disabilities settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory processes for Behavioral Health, Intellectual Disability, and Substance Abuse services
- In-depth understanding of DMAS, Medicaid, HIPAA, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train staff and work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of Human Rights investigations and reporting in the state of Virginia.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting policies and reporting any findings of non-compliance.
- Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, required.
