POSITION TITLE: ESL Paraprofessional
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- At least one (1) of the following:
- Two (2) years of college credit;
- An associate’s degree (or higher);
- Provide evidence of passing the Arkansas State Board of Education adopted Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment
- Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Possess basic knowledge of technology and keyboarding to support students learning.
- Self-starter, able to work independently.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate patience, initiative, and willingness to learn.
- Eagerness to work with children of all abilities, languages, and cultural backgrounds.
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs School Board policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assisting students in achieving academic and social success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Be an intregal part of the ESOL Team and collaborate with classroom content teachers.
- Provide English language acquisition and academic assistance to students, one-on-one or in small groups.
- To train and implement EL Achieve English Language Development ELD Curriculum Program.
- Support the preparation of instructional materials that reflect appropriate ELL modifications and accommodations.
- Re-word and/or clarify lesson content in a comprehensible manner given a student's level of English proficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Support supervision of and monitor students throughout the school day.
- Provide clerical support for program and administration.
- Collect student data and share information with appropriate staff.
- Support and promote the district’s mission, vision and values.
