Job Summary
SWCVA is seeking a highly experienced, compassionate healthcare professional to join our thriving team. This position is responsible for assisting with treadmill testing in a variety of modalities including PET scans and nuclear stress testing. IV certification is a plus
Essential Functions
· Explains testing accurately and in detail to patients to ensure understanding and patient consent.
· Uses critical thinking to evaluate order accuracy and the need to initiate order change requests with the ordering physician as needed.
· Monitors patients for physiologic symptoms during testing and reports to supervising physician as needed.
· The cardiovascular technician is also responsible for patient education
· Patient preparation
· Patient assessment
· Obtaining informed consent
· ECG lead placement
· Administration of exercise and pharmacological stress test per protocols
· Interpretation of vital signs and heart rhythms
· Applications of BLS measures to patients
· Collaboration with other technicians, nuclear technologies, supervisors, and providers to ensure patient safety at all times.
· Maintains supply inventory and crash cart equipment
· Checks crash cart, defibrillator
· Closely monitor the week’s schedule.
· Calls to confirm stress test appointments and provide instructions
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. At least 3 years of cardiology medical background, clinic, or other healthcare setting experience. Knowledge of medical terminology of payer contact terms and processes. 2 years of stress test preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of stress test, NextGen EMR system, excellent interpersonal communication skills, IV certified
