Job description (Crew Lead Assistant)

SOUTHWEST GREENS MIDWEST IS THE LEADING ARTIFICIAL GOLF GREEN AND GRASS INSTALLER IN THE MIDWEST. WE ARE LOCATED IN COLUMBUS; OHIO and we may provide compensation for relocation.

Our company specializes in the design & construction of all related synthetic turf surfaces including putting greens, lawns, playgrounds and small athletic fields. Our Company provides services for Commercial and residential applications. We have expanded our territory to include Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, & Illinois and have created corporate relationships that have expanded our staffing needs throughout the United States.

Job Description:

We are looking to hire several Crew Lead Assistant that can assist our crew leads with day-to-day synthetic turf installations, including but not limited to lawns, playgrounds, landscape, sports fields (small scale), golf greens, and K9 projects.

Responsibilities: (Assist the crew lead with all the below)

Key Responsibilities:

· Site Preparation:

o Assess and measure the installation area to determine material requirements.

o Clear and level the ground, removing debris, rocks, and existing vegetation.

o Install proper drainage systems and base materials (e.g., crushed stone or sand) to ensure a stable foundation.

· Turf Installation:

o Cut and fit synthetic turf to match the dimensions of the area.

o Secure turf using adhesives, nails, or staples, ensuring seams are properly aligned and hidden.

o Install infill materials (e.g., silica sand or rubber granules) to provide stability and a natural look.

· Finishing Touches:

o Brush and groom the turf to ensure an even and natural appearance.

o Trim edges and secure perimeter materials for a clean, professional finish.

o Inspect the installation for quality, ensuring it meets client expectations and industry standards.

· Maintenance and Repairs:

o Perform routine maintenance on installed turf, such as cleaning and reapplying infill.

o Repair damaged or worn sections of turf as needed.

· Client Interaction:

o Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.

o Provide advice on turf care and maintenance.

· Team Collaboration:

o Work closely with a team of installers, landscapers, or contractors to complete projects on time.

o Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment.

Additional Responsibilities

• Learn the basics for installing synthetic turf
• Communicate project installation details to project managers and customers.
• Supervise and train technician crew members.
• Use installation tools safely and effectively. Examples: measuring devices, power tools, drills, saws, grinders, blowers, grading equipment, bobcats, compactors, hand tools, skid-steer, forklifts, etc.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and lift throughout the entire shift.
• Maintain a productive, fun, and safe approach to physically demanding work.
• Proficient in all base work. Includes grading, slant/slope ratios, drainage and stone base compaction.
• Installation of perimeter board.
• Ensure company vehicles and equipment are serviced and used correctly by all crew members.
• Must be able to read, understand, interpret, and execute plans, sketches, and details.
• Solid work ethic, unquestionable integrity, and a positive attitude for engaging customers.
• Keep work areas and vehicles clean and organized.
• Drive truck and trailer to and from job sites, (must have a valid /clean drivers license).
• Self reliant and motivated
• Working knowledge of Smart Phone Applications.

Each applicant needs to be aware that this is a travel required position, no matter the level being hired for. The reporting office is located in Columbus OH. Travel can include visits to all four of our franchise states or beyond. Per-diem is paid weekly, and all hotel accommodations are provided.

Compensation will depend on the level of experience and the skills you have.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 65 per week
