Preferred Qualifications:
- Kansas teaching license and minimum three years teaching experience.
- Endorsement in one of these areas: Certified Teacher, Behavior Specialist, Counseling, Guidance, Social Worker, School Psychologist, Special Education
- Graduate degree in education or a related field
- Proficient in facilitating groups
Reports to:

Job Goal:
The student support facilitator's primary purpose is to decrease the suspension rate, improve academic achievement, and support the social/emotional and behavioral needs of all students. The facilitator will provide leadership to staff in implementing intervention initiatives, supporting district school social emotional/behavioral supports, and implementation restorative justice practices school wide. They will also plan, implement, and assess intervention services to ensure fidelity. The facilitator will increase the staff’s capacity in restorative practices, by providing staff with ongoing and embedded professional development.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Support students and teachers inside the classroom through observation, coaching, modeling restorative language, supporting social emotional resources and debriefing with both teachers and individual students.
- Monitor individual student behavior by checking in with students throughout the school day.
- Facilitate mediations in response to conflict: among students, among educators, between family members and educators, among groups of students, educators, or family members.
- Follow through after mediations to ensure the harm was repaired.
- Develop creative interventions for students as part of restorative resolution and student support plans.
- Facilitating, co-facilitating and helping USD 497 staff to establish school wide Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III interventions, including restorative practices.
- Inform families, educators, and administrators about incidents in school as needed.
- Organize data to inform the Mental Health Team of any negative trends in school climate in order to improve school climate and prevent future behavior issues.
- Spend time in classrooms to build relationships with students and teachers.
- Organize school data to inform staff of trends in school climate.
- Use peace circles to build a sense of community.
- Provide on-going restorative practices professional development to staff.
- Provide on-going social emotional and behavioral training to staff.
- Offer training to families in restorative practices as a common language is being used at home.

- Ability to possess and maintain licensure (certification) as a teachers in one of these endorsement areas: Behavior Specialist, Counseling, Guidance, Social Worker, School Psychologist, Special Education
