Job Summary
A Quality Control (QC) professional is responsible for ensuring that products or processes meet specified standards and comply with regulations. They conduct inspections, audits, and tests to identify defects or issues, and work closely with teams to implement corrective actions and improve quality performance.
LOCATION:
Galveston. (1002 Texas Clipper Rd, Galveston, TX 77554)

Primary responsibilities include conducting Quality Control inspections of Vessel New Construction activities with the following objectives:

Primary responsibilities include conducting Quality Control inspections of Vessel New Construction activities with the following objectives:
- Audit Vessel Repair and New Construction activities to ensure procedures are clear and followed.
- Identify welding defects and collaborate with Foremen and welders to improve performance.
- Assist Foremen in writing noncompliance reports and corrective action documents.
- Ensure compliance with welding and quality procedures in the following areas:
- Adherence to AWS D.1.1-1.6 welding and fitting procedures.
- Proper storage, handling, and disposal of welding rods and wire.
- Correct setup and adherence to welding equipment and process parameters.
- Proper tank and pipeline testing, recording, and compliance with procedures.
- Training and procedure compliance of Yard personnel.
- Correct plate cutting and metal forming procedures.
- Provide feedback to Foremen and welders/fitters to improve results.
- Conduct daily inspections of completed jobs for Work Order compliance.
- Ensure master and Work Order variations are posted in the Supervisor’s office.
- Report daily inspection findings and non-compliance to Supervisors, Ops, and Yard Managers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by ISO/QA Manager and Coordinator.
- 5 to 7 years direct experience on Vessel repairs and new construction activities.
- CWI License or USCG experience preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate improvement results with operations Sup/Foremen & welders.
- Understand company policies and procedures.
- Must have good communication skills and take good directions from yard manager.
- Understanding of company quality and environmental manuals and procedures described therein.
- Must have the knowledge base of Repair & Construction functions to be able to audit yard activities for compliance to procedures and regulations.
- Must have or be eligible for TWIC card.
- Barge chemical environment requires prolonged kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry in access of 120 lbs, assisted.
- Ability to work in varied conditions (i.e.: heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), inside and outside.
- Ability to work in confined space/heights and operate equipment safely and efficiently.
