The Assistant Superintendent will assist the Superintendent in the provision of leadership for educational programming and educational opportunities. This position will assist the Superintendent in keeping the supervisory union’s student-centered focus, ensuring all students the opportunity for academic growth and the development of independence, resilience, aspiration, health and wellness, behavioral and emotional health, civic-mindedness, and an appreciation of the Arts. As part of facilitating the educational programs, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for administering multiple grants, to include writing the grants, managing funds, and supervision of programs and staff.
Job Description
- Accountability for supervision of the supervisory union’s instructional programs, opportunities and school services.
- Assume the responsibilities for administering the district in the absence of the Superintendent.
- Write, implement, evaluate and manage grants and special projects to include the development of such projects that are possible through state or federal legislations, local or cooperative partnerships and/or competitive grants. Advise the Finance Department on the financial budgeting and expenditures of such grants.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the process of curriculum planning, coordination, and evaluation with the Directors of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, Student Services, Early Childhood, and Educational Technology, and the Principals.
- Serve as the SVSU Homeless Liaison
- Promote and model collaborative decision making at all levels.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent supervisory union long range and strategic planning efforts.
- Evaluate the performance of administrative personnel as delegated by the Superintendent in accordance with law, code and board policy.
- Assist in the development of regulations/procedures and attend SVSU Policy Committee meetings, as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent and/or requested by the boards/prudential committee through the Superintendent.
