Job Description
Job Summary
The Purchasing Assistant participates in central stores inventory, technical research, and implementation of established purchasing policies and procedures
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inventoried items: Inventory accuracy and cycle counting process, set reorder points and quantities, identify items need to support repetitive types of procurement campus wide, remove items that are no longer needed and develop standard descriptions for inventory items.
- Develop, organize and manage the trades parts in an orderly fashion.
- Research parts, availability and technical issues for Facilities Maintenance personnel.
- Do quotes for Facilities Maintenance personnel to obtain best value and solution.
- Assist the Purchasing Coordinator in procuring items for use in Facilities Maintenance.
- Issue purchase orders as needed.
- Secure requisitions for items purchased.
- Fill out purchase orders completely.
- Perform price adjustments on purchase orders.
- It is the employee and supervisors shared responsibility to regularly meet to discuss performance, suggest job description updates and set mutually beneficial goals.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the team and institutional goals.
Specific Skills and Qualifications
- Technical training or equivalent business experience preferred.
- Experience in business administration, procurement, inventory management role preferred.
- Have the aptitude and ability to do technical research and have a solid electromechanical understanding
- Assist maintenance supervisors and department personnel in product research and pricing, especially relating to projects.
- Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification and credit check may be required.
- Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.
- Valid drivers license, successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Report (Driving Record).
- Some positions require proof of car insurance.
Physical Requirements
- Employment is generally in an office setting which requires personnel to be able to interact with others by various means of communicate and be able to traverse campus by any mode of personal transportation.
