Job Description
This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The position is a 10-month appointment in the Division of Nursing, reporting to the Director of Nursing. Excellence in teaching, advising, program coordination, and recruitment is expected. Continued professional development, participation in academic governance, and professional, university and community service are all factored into tenure decisions.
Position Responsibilities
- Teach 24-28 credit hours per year in nursing.
- Serve as liaison between adjunct faculty and campus/program faculty by participation in faculty activities.
- Coordinate practicum and capstone projects for the nursing program.
- Assist in marketing and recruitment initiatives and support program growth strategies
- • Act as academic advisor throughout the major and evaluate transfer work for appropriate program credit
- • Utilize instructional technology such as an online learning management system to facilitate instruction.
- • Responsible for coordination of select nursing program courses, including course development, management and evaluation.
- Conduct orientation, planning and evaluation meetings for assigned courses.
- Assist in orientation of adjunct faculty, including use of online technology.
- • Maintain knowledge of and usage of Blackboard and other appropriate informational technology.
- Participate in curriculum design, review, and course development.
- Participate in ongoing professional development appropriate to teaching assignments and licensure/accreditation requirements.
- Participate in program assessment research.
- Teach at campus and other locations when necessary.
- • Participate in and support a shared governance process at both the Division and college levels.
- Perform other duties as required.
Other
Up to 25% travel time expected with:
- Periodic travel to main campus and other Southwestern locations as required
- Other travel to accomplish position objectives as required
Qualifications
- A minimum of a master's degree in nursing is required.
- Experience teaching adult students preferred
- • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a culturally diverse and collaborative environment expected
- Ability to function with minimal direct supervision to attain expected program goals
- • Familiarity with the usage of educational technology, including online learning management systems.
- Appropriate skills using e-mail and Microsoft Office applications required
- Unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Kansas or compact licensure state.
