Medical Assistant Lead - Gynecology
Southwoods Health is hiring a Medical Assistant Lead to work in our Gynecology office in Warren, Ohio. The Medical Assistant Lead will work with his/her team and partners with the physician and/or other health care professionals to evaluate and provide direction to comprehensive, quality patient care. Is trained and responsible for performing a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties.

The Medical Assistant Lead will work with his/her team and partners with the physician and/or other health care professionals to evaluate and provide direction to comprehensive, quality patient care. Is trained and responsible for performing a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties.
Essential Duties:
- Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service.
- Rooms patients in a timely manner utilizing two patient identifiers.
- Obtain and record vital signs, major complaint, medications and allergies in patient chart.
- Collect various specimens by following proper specimen collection, storing and recording protocols.
- Prepare lab specimen in timely manner for transport to hospital lab by maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing.
- Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to physician and team members.
- Able to schedule appointments, answer phones, filing, maintain medical records, and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Works with manager to monitor provider schedules/templates and adjust schedules as needed for time off, volume trends and provider requested changes.
- Responsible for tracking and assuring timely scheduling of referrals, testing and procedures for patients within the Southwoods Health network.
- Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties.
- Ensure all processes at responsible physician practice maintains compliance with all regulatory Agencies.
- Responsible for assigning and or logging required daily monitoring/quality control checks, refrigerators, AEDs, POC testing devices and sterilizers.
- Monitors staff schedules, call offs and works with manager to provide coverage.
- Coordinates new staff orientation and competency documentation of staff.
- Provides input into staff evaluations and 60 days and annually.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program and obtained a diploma; OR Maintains certification renewals from one of the following associations throughout the course of employment: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMT), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- Current BLS Certification through AHA.
- Training or courses in computer skills, and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to handle several priorities at once
- Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Great degree of flexibility and organizational skill as priorities will change frequently
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times, strong ethical and moral principles
- Previous EMR experience, preferred
- GYN experience preferred
Full-time. Monday-Friday dayshift.
