Southwoods Health is hiring Physician Support Specialist to work in our Gastro office in Boardman, Ohio. The Physician Support Specialist will work with his/her team and partners with the physician and/or other health care professionals to provide direction to comprehensive, quality patient care. Is trained and responsible for performing a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties.
Essential Duties:
Southwoods Health is hiring Physician Support Specialist to work in our Gastro office in Boardman, Ohio. The Physician Support Specialist will work with his/her team and partners with the physician and/or other health care professionals to provide direction to comprehensive, quality patient care. Is trained and responsible for performing a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties.
Essential Duties:
- Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service
- Room patients in a timely manner utilizing two patient identifiers
- Refill medication prescriptions under the direction of the provider and in accordance with company policies
- Obtain and record vital signs, major complaint, medications and allergies in patient chart
- Accurately carry out physician instructions and follow up as needed to ensure completion
- Enter physician orders into the computer in a timely manner using appropriate delegate status
- Schedule appointments, answer phones, filing, and maintain medical records
- Schedule procedures to be performed in facilities that physician holds privileges
- Coordinate surgeries with surgical reps/vendors
- Consider priorities and patient/equipment special needs when scheduling preoperative appointment and surgical procedures
- Schedule appointments and procedures according to nursing and anesthesia staff availability, patient needs, and physician’s block time
- Follow procedures for notification of changes in the schedule
- For return patients, make any necessary changes to demographic or insurance information in computer
- Follow all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance and confidentiality of patient information
- Assist team in all applicable duties including working as an effective team member; promote quality customer service and facilities efficient practice operations.
- Ensure all processes at responsible physician practice maintains compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Training or courses in business office activities, computer skills, and medical terminology
- Previous experience working in a physician practice
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to handle several priorities at once
- Great degree of flexibility and organizational skills as priorities will change frequently
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times, strong ethical and moral principles
- Previous EMR experience (preferred)
- 1 years of experience directly related to patient care
Full-time. Monday-Friday, no evenings or weekends.
