Title: Validation Engineer
24 month contract
Hybrid 3 days on site

Validation Engineer within the Electrification and Energy Solutions (E ES) division. This role focuses on induction motor and generator validation and will be responsible for planning and assessing validation work rather than executing tests.
Key Responsibilities
Develop validation plans and ensure components are ready for production.
Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments.
Identify potential lab space, facility, or resource gaps.
Present status updates in gate reviews to management.
Collaborate with test engineers and design teams to oversee testing execution.
Support electric drive system development and validation.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Strong background in electric drive systems, induction motor validation, and generator testing.
Experience with FMEA and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
9 years of experience preferred (internally at CAT, this is typically a senior-level role).
Ideal candidates have experience in CAT s MPI process or electric vehicle product development (automotive sector is a good alternative).
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
Work Environment & Travel
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 remote (flexibility based on project needs).
Limited travel, mainly to local testing facilities, Tucson Proving Grounds, or supplier sites.
Team Structure
The hiring team consists of 12 members (4 validation engineers, 8 test engineers).
This hire aims to strengthen the validation engineering expertise within the team.
Interview Process
One-hour Teams interview (panel format).
Mix of targeted selection and technical questions (STAR)
Initially interviewing three candidates, with potential for additional rounds if needed.
This role is a great fit for candidates with strong validation experience in electric drive systems, particularly induction motors and generators, and a solid understanding of CAT s product development and validation processes.
