Fitness Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of the Fitness Center and Pool facilities and employees, including: maintaining World Class standards in all Fitness and Pool areas, ensuring that all Fitness and Pool Attendants are performing their duties according to their job descriptions, ensuring that all Fitness and Pool Attendants have the tools that they need in order to perform the essential functions of their job, and addressing any questions or concerns that guests and members may have. The Fitness Supervisor will monitor fitness classes and hikes ensuring they are always covered and will teach the class if needed. They are responsible for Fitness Membership sales; setting up complimentary personal training sessions for members, provide new member tours of the facilities and accurate tracking of member sign in and guest fee collection.
Responsibilities
- Greet each guest in a warm, welcoming and genuine manner. Demonstrate proper telephone etiquette to each and every guest, both internal and external
- Be friendly, helpful and smile; be courteous to all clients, guests, members and co-workers; and be professional
- Have complete knowledge of all Fitness Center and Spa services, packages, promotions and retail products presently offered by the Fitness Center
- Adhere to all Old Edwards Inn and Spa departmental policies and procedures
- Present a well-groomed, professional appearance. You must be in full uniform while on property or at a work-related event
- Be punctual and prepared for your day. Adhere to posted schedule and make any schedule requests in writing to the Operations Manager at least two weeks in advance
- Responsible for Fitness Membership Sales, setting up complimentary personal training sessions for member and providing new member tours of facilities
- Maintain current Training Manual and train all new fitness and pool attendants
- Participate in all Fitness Center and Spa activities including staff meetings, educational events, workshops, inventory or promotions
- Supervise Fitness Center and Pool facilities on scheduled shifts ensuring that the facility is kept to company standards at all times
- Supervise employees of the Fitness Center and Pool on scheduled shifts, ensuring that they are in proper uniform, are performing the functions of their job and have the tools that they need to do their job
- Have the ability to resolve guest challenges and follow the proper procedure in reporting guest opportunities to the Operations Manager
- Daily maintenance tasks will include, but are not limited to: cleaning equipment, minor repairs on facility equipment and maintaining the exercise bikes
- Ensure all hydration stations are kept clean and full at all times
- Develop health and wellness programs for our guests and members
- Develop employee programs in health and wellness
- Maintain all health records on guests of the Fitness Center, ensuring that the information is confidential and organized
- Schedule personal trainers, fitness instructors and fitness concierge at proper staffing levels
- Conduct regular staff meetings and trainings
- Ensure that the Fitness Center and Pool rules, safety and sanitation practices are followed by all guests and employees that occupy the Fitness Center and Pool areas at any given time
- Document and report all accidents and incidents in the Fitness Center and Pool areas
- Submit work orders on equipment malfunctions and safety hazards
- Have thorough knowledge of Spa Soft reservation software and the ability to operate the Fitness Front Desk at any given time.
- Keep an organized and clean desk area at all times
- Must be 21 years or older
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Previous experience in a hospitality or fitness related role is preferred, but not required
- CPR certification required
- Must be bright, personable and can get along with others.
- Should be highly service oriented, possess exemplary telephone skills and be well organized and self-motivated
- Should be able to understand the Old Edwards Inn and Spa objectives and have the potential to achieve employee and departmental goals
- Must be able to set a healthy lifestyle example and provide mentorship for the team
- Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- The employee must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time, life and/or move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis, and as much as 40 pounds with less frequency, as well as walk on a regular basis, talk, see and hear
