HR Generalist I Salary Range
$56,616.81 – $60,309.21
HR Generalist I Purpose:
The Human Resources Generalist I runs the HR daily functions of their assigned client group. Including, but not limited to; recruiting and presenting qualified candidates for open positions, managing the initial new hire on-boarding process, working as a liaison with Team Members for benefits and Open Enrollment, leaves of absences, worker’s compensation process, unemployment claims, employee relations, performance management process, facilitates the departure process, and assists Team Members as well as Management with interpretation of company policies and practices.
HR Generalist I Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified internal and external job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental leaders to understand skills and competencies required for openings (permanent and temporary placements); writes and places employment ads with a variety of recruiting resources.
- Communicates with leaders to determine candidate selection, conducts various employment background checks and verifies candidate’s employment records in order to ratify the employment decision.
- Communicates with internal and external applicants regarding open positions and accepts completed applications in order to ensure professional and friendly customer service. Maintains employment applications and supporting employment related records in order to ensure ease of retrieval and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Proposes new hire/transferring Team Members starting salary for approval by the HR Manager and contacts candidate to make offers of employment; schedules start date, orientation, and training as necessary to ensure optimum transition of the new Team Member into SCCU’s culture and processes.
- Conducts the New Hire Orientation Program and completes all on-boarding activities including managing badges for new hires.
- Performs routine tasks required for compensation changes, employee relations/disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; and partners with leadership regarding performance improvement plans and performance appraisal administration.
- Assist Team Members with Benefits which include, 401(k) Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and AD&D, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Heath Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Accidental Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, assists with Open Enrollment by answering client group questions.
- Manages the leave of absence process for assigned client groups for FMLA, ADA, SCCU Managed Leaves, including providing Team Members and management information on what type of leaves are available; how to apply for leaves; tracking leaves for their client groups; providing leadership with updates and tracking information. Able to communicate to Team Members and management when no leave is available and Team Member needs to exit.
- Responsible for calling in worker’s compensation claims, liaison for worker’s compensation carrier for team member if issues arise and updating managers. Answer inquiries from the worker’s compensation carrier and tracks attendance of team member.
- Responsible for managing the unemployment claims process, including, filing and participating in unemployment hearings and compile information for legal cases.
- Manages departure process for voluntary and involuntary Team Members in their client group. Schedules and conducts the exit meeting and manages the exit process from start to finish.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, Team Members, and leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Recommends best practices and reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Human Resource Generalist I Minimum Criteria
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study, or equivalent experience required.
Prior Experience:
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a human resources generalist function with at least one year direct recruiting experience. Education or relevant equivalent experience may be considered as a substitution.
Schedule:
- Full Time, 40 hours a week, during Department hours of operation
- Monday - Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm.
- Flex Scheduling and Work From Home Hybrid options available.
- Work From Home requires Team Members to be in office twice a week.
Salary : $56,617 - $60,309
