Our Company:
Space Coast United (SCU)is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 3750 players (ages 2.5-19 UPSL) and their families annually. Through full-service programming, SCU offers youth soccer for all levels of play, from Recreation and outreach programs up to the highest levels of elite competition. In addition, SCU Youth hosts tournaments, camps, and other events to ensure the best player development opportunities.

Over 60 personnel support SCU's on- and off-field operations, including full-time staff, coaches, and volunteer coaches.

The Position:
The SCU Boys Director is a full-time position. The SCU Executive Director determines the director's responsibilities, including team coaching (at least one team) and program directives.

Essential Functions:

On-Field Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver a fun, challenging, and competitive learning environment for all players in every training session and match day.
  • Ensure all training sessions are planned on the club platform and that the coaches execute them.
  • Devise and execute training sessions per the SCU game model, philosophy, and yearly periodization outlined by the club executive director.
  • Handle all components of match preparation, including team selection, opponent analysis, video breakdown, and set pieces for showcases, league games, friendlies, and other events.
  • Work with Physical staff to monitor and improve player well-being.
  • Work closely with GK coaches to ensure positive GK integration into the team environment that aligns with the weekly topics.
  • Plan and attend all team training sessions (3x/week/team).
  • Scout/identify players within SCU (RL, NPL, FCL).
  • Scout/identify players outside of SCU.
  • Run Open ID Sessions (4x per year).
  • Run and manage tryouts (3-4 sessions in May).

Off-Field Responsibilities:

  • Meet with players and parents at the start and end of the season.
  • Maintain communication with the team managers regarding logistical matters.
  • Create a development plan for each player and provide feedback on progress throughout the season.
  • Tracked all relevant player data for training and matches in the club platform system.
  • Review and upload weekend game footage to the ECNL–HUDL platform.
  • Support players on Darkhorse Software to review video clips to individuals and teams on weekly topics for player development.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all Academy players, U11 through U19.
  • Stay informed about players in the same age group playing in NPL FCL for club-wide scouting.
  • Provide the Executive Director with video clips from games and training that display the club's style of play.
  • Submit two technical reports per season (mid-season and end-of-season) on individual and team progress to the Executive Director.
  • Stay updated with the latest research and technology to enhance coaching strategies.
  • Conduct Player Evaluation Meetings with players and families (2-3x per year).
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with families (email, phone calls, texts within 24 hours).

Overall Academy Program Responsibilities:

  • Attend Staff/ECNL meetings to discuss topics outlined by the Executive Director.
  • Seek continuing education opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Contribute to coach education initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for Division improvements.
  • Support team travel/planning when needed.
  • Assist with player registration for leagues, including ECNL.
  • Cover other teams’ training sessions & games as needed.
  • Coordinate training space usage with the club field scheduler.

Overall SCU Youth Club Responsibilities:

  • Always represent SCU in a positive light.
  • Exhibit professionalism at all SCU-related meetings, courses, seminars, and study visits.
  • Assist SCU in various capacities at events, including tournament set-up.
  • Mandatory reporter of abuse: Report any suspected abuse within 24 hours using the Abuse Prevention Report.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications/Competencies:

Mandatory: USSF “B” License - UEFA B With Plans To Complete USSF or UEFA A
Preferred: USSF “A,” “A-Senior,” or “A-Youth” License, UEFA Teaching Experience
Language: English is required, but Spanish is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to interact positively with youth soccer players, parents, and staff.
  • Strong communication skills, including email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Complete understanding of the person leadership style.

Job Type Requirements:

  • Full-time, salaried position.
  • Monday-Thursday office hours (16 hours total, 4 hours per day as assigned by the Director).
  • On-field coaching: 3 hours per weeknight and 3 hours per weekend day, depending on schedule.

Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk, listen, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms.
  • Job duties include both office work and outdoor coaching.
  • Must attend outdoor youth sporting events in all seasons, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Physical demands: bending, sitting, lifting, and event set-up.

Background Requirements:

  • A background check and continued annual background checks are required upon offer.
