SGAC has opened up a vacancy for a key role within the organization to work closely with the SGAC Public Relations and Communications (PR & Comms) Team.

The SGAC Graphic Designer will work with members of the PR & Comms team to develop graphic elements for use in SGAC’s global, regional, and local activities. The position will offer opportunities to work with passionate individuals in the space sector, as well as an increased awareness of the various space activities happening around the world.

Responsibilities

The major tasks of the Graphic Designer will include, but not be limited to :

SGAC Brand Materials

Work with members in the SGAC network to develop event logos, maintain or update key brand materials (thank-you cards, year-in-review graphics, social media graphics)

Familiarize oneself with the key brand elements of the SGAC community (color schemes, key symbols) and ensure their correct usage and applications within the SGAC community

SGAC Web Graphics

Work with the PR & Comms team members to develop graphics for social media postings, newsletters, and other web- / digital-based graphic elements.

Work with regional / local event organizers to ensure their web graphic elements follow SGAC Global Brand Guidelines, and assist as necessary.

SGAC Print Graphics

Work with the PR & Comms team members to develop graphics for print brochures, cards / letters, and banners.

Work with regional / local event organizers to ensure their print graphic elements follow SGAC Global Brand Guidelines, and assist as necessary.

Answering emails in a timely fashion from the PR Team Lead and the Executive Office

Assist with design and development of other SGAC related material, as appropriate (e.g. SGAC project group material)

The SGAC Graphic Designers will be required to spend 2-5 hours per week on tasks. This position requires excellent English skills, good computer skills, and speedy email response time.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work

Professional Fluency (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in English

Preferred Qualifications

High proficiency on digital graphic design software, preferably Adobe Products. Key softwares include : Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Moderate proficiency on Google Suite products for work management. (Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Docs / Sheets / Slides)

Moderate proficiency or knowledge on organizational graphic design needs and variations. These include knowledge of transferring graphic elements across different software platforms and applications (e.g. from web to print or vice versa). Knowledge or experience in editorial design (bleed, spreads, masters), digital and interactive design (incorporation of web- / digital-only graphic elements), social media management (post scheduling, key dimensions for social media posts, keywords) are very preferred but can be taught / acquired on the job.

Strong attention to detail

Cross-cultural and communication awareness

As with all SGAC positions, meetings and work will be completed virtually. The selected applicant must be easily accessible via e-mail and phone on a daily basis. Communication skills and the ability to respond in a timely manner are vital.

Being recognised internationally as part of the organisation’s leadership on the SGAC Team webpage

Being invited to attend United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space meetings and other conferences as part of the official SGAC delegation
