RELIABILITY ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Translate subsystem / component reliability requirements into performance metrics with testable targets.
- Build reliability prediction models / Finite Element Models to evaluate product functional performance over mission life conditions and generate MTFF predictions at subsystems and system levels.
- Use Physics-of-Failure based approach to develop and implement accelerated tests to mitigate risks and qualify designs.
- Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) methods to develop test plans to ensure product robustness and performance.
- Lead reliability test planning, methodology and execution.
- Drive analysis processes for all failures discovered during reliability testing.
- Make Reliability assessments of component / subsystem designs, and influence manufacture / technology selections to ensure mission life reliability targets achieved.
- Analyze and model implementation options to inform electronics design for reliability, including :
- Material selections; PCB laminates, features (vias, pad, stack up, etc.) specifications, finishes, Component attach; Solder chemistry, reflow profile, Underfill selections.
- Component package selection, material, design, optimization.
- Assembly methods.
- Rework.
