MINIMUM TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or technical certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is a plus. Significant relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- 1-2 years of experience working with GIS software and data management, preferably in a public utility or local government setting.
- Proficiency with GIS software, including the ESRI ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro) and ArcGIS Online.

- Good problem-solving skills and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GPS-based field data collection using applications such as Esri Field Maps.
- Experience with Esri Survey123.
- Experience with asset management systems.
- Experience with spatial data quality control and verification.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB: The GIS Technician is responsible for maintaining, updating, analyzing, and interpreting geographic information system (GIS) data to support the operational needs of the Spalding County Water and Sewerage Facilities Authority (SCWSFA) and Spalding County Government. Initially, the position will primarily support the Stormwater, Public Works, and Parks departments, with the potential to expand to other departments over time. Key responsibilities include creating and editing GIS data, producing maps, and supporting field operations using mobile GIS and GPS tools. Under the guidance of the GIS Manager, the GIS Technician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate spatial data for decision-making and project support
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Create, modify, and edit spatial data within GIS databases to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Produce high-quality maps and other spatial outputs to support decision-making and reporting needs.
- Assist with the deployment and maintenance of mobile GIS applications for field crews.
- Conduct field data collection using GPS units and mobile GIS applications as needed.
- Verify and correct spatial data through field checks and office edits.
- Utilize ArcGIS Online to create and maintain web maps and applications for internal and public use.
- Provide technical support for GIS software and applications, troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Document GIS procedures and workflows, ensuring clear guidance for future operations.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders on data sharing and project requirements.
- Perform data quality control and ensure compliance with GIS data standards.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental goals and operational needs.

Pay: From $21.47 per hour
