Faculty Member - Clinical Mental Health Counseling
JOB SUMMARY
Spalding University is seeking candidates to join our faculty team at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the CACREP accredited CMHC program in Louisville, Kentucky.
The primary focus of the position is teaching core courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. A commitment and passion towards the preparation of students to enter the profession of clinical counseling is critical. Applications should have a strong counselor identity evident through either research, grant writing, active engagement in professional organizations, clinical practice, community engagement, or advocacy.
Applicants especially interested in teaching practicum & internship, or potentially working towards the role of Field Experience Director are encouraged to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching responsibilities will include (3-3-1) graduate courses in the School of CMHC. Specific courses may include: Practicum, Internship, Group Theory and Process, Multicultural Counseling, Addictions, or other courses in areas of expertise or as needed.
- Contribute to team efforts to maintain CACREP Standards and accreditation.
- Serve on school and university committees as needed.
- Maintain eligibility as a core faculty member under CACREP Standards.
- Mentor graduate students.
- Serve on dissertation committees.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program is required. ABD will be considered if the doctorate will be completed by August 1, 2025.
- Current knowledge of best practices in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
- Skills to effectively teach graduate classes and adult learners by developing and delivering innovative curriculum based on current scholarly information relevant to course topics.
- Knowledge of 2024 CACREP standards.
- Ability to contribute to program development initiatives, program review and revision, accreditation compliance, and assessment of curricula.
- Ability to gain and maintain licensure in Kentucky within the first year of employment.
- Exhibit active and regular engagement in state, national, or other professional organizations and/or other evidence of a strong counselor professional identity.
- Adhere to university and CMHC program policies and procedures as well as the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics.
- Foster a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness.
- Work collegially and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Maintain clear, direct, goal oriented, and effective communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of effective university teaching experience in a CMHC program.
- Knowledge of supervision models, theories, and/or experience in supervision of CMHC students and eligibility for the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE) Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential and/or Kentucky LPCC-S designation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, as evidenced by relevant professional activities, initiatives, or accomplishments.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing access, equity, and social justice, through teaching, research, and/or service.
- A demonstrated commitment to growth as an educator and supervisor.
- Experience in counselor education and supervision program as a CACREP liaison or Field Experience coordinator.
