The Trailer Specialist’s primary functions are to audit the completed trailer manifests for hazardous materials compliance and assist as needed in Dispatch.

About The Role
The Trailer Specialist’s primary functions are to audit the completed trailer manifests for hazardous materials compliance and assist as needed in Dispatch.
What You’ll Do
- Accurately prepare bill of ladings (BOLs) for drivers to haul containers to port. May include inputting, plugging and/or imaging/scanning.
- Process paperwork related to delivery receipts, manifests, faxes, damages, shortages, refusals, manifests, bills of lading and other types of paperwork.
- Update shipment tracking system when needed and help maintain timely data integrity.
- Interact with drivers and customers to keep up-to-date information on routes/route changes and schedules.
- Assign and route drivers, destinations, and timelines.
- Sort and distribute paperwork within the office.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Good verbal and written communication (in English).
- Must be able to read schedules, freight bills of lading, rate sheets, and other paperwork.
- Must exercise good judgment, focus and decision-making.
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize in order to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong professional phone and customer service skills.
- Ability to deal with difficult and diverse people and remain calm.
- Good computer skills, including data entry and 10-key.
- Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., multi-line phone, fax machine, copy machine).
- Must be conscientious and aware of safety procedures and issues.
- High school education required.
- One to two years of general office experience required. Transportation or freight experience preferred. Most tasks are learned on the job.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Hazardous Materials certification may be required post-hire.
- Must be able to sit and use computer, which may require repetitive motions of the hands.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment, however, it may also involve being outside in the elements or in a company vehicle. Exposures to exhaust fumes are likely. Overtime may be mandatory when needed. Conditions may also include exposure to environmental noise.
