GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Center Manager, this position is responsible for managing the daily operations and memberships of the Recreation Center.
Essential Functions
- Under the direction of the Recreation Center Manager - plans, coordinates and directs the operational functions of the Recreation Center.
- Performs various administrative duties, including tracking of memberships and revenues, strategic planning, assisting in the creation and management of budget, program development/evaluations, performance measures, and employee hiring, training, supervision and performance evaluations.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures as needed.
- Oversees memberships including membership software, membership renewals, senior membership billing, and member interactions
- Manages a variety of Recreation Center patron services, including memberships/passes/general admittance, checking out requested sports equipment, answers questions regarding programs, services, costs and general operating policies and procedures; monitors the general activities of patrons to ensure compliance with Recreation Center rules and regulations.
- Oversees facility finances including cash handling, cash balancing, and invoicing
- Assists in program registration within the Parks & Recreation department
- Resolves customer concerns, troubleshoots, resolves problems, enforces rules and regulations to ensure a safe, high quality, pleasant recreation environment for patrons,
- Oversees front desk staff communication with patrons by phone and Podium
- Manages the new hire process, trains, schedules, and reviews the work of the front desk, child watch, and concessions staff. Performs disciplinary actions as needed.
- Ensures the opening and closing of the facility and manages closures.
- Responsible for maintaining Utah Child Care Licensing rules and policies.
- Maintains facility information via computer and social media outlets.
- Schedules and oversees various activities and reservations; including executing the inter-local agreement with Nebo School District regarding use of the facility and coordinates with those administering school activities, and general public events.
- Develop advertising, marketing strategies and promotional material for recreation/fitness/aquatics and facilities.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position including working some nights, weekends, and holidays. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community organizations, members and guests, governmental agencies, contractors and vendors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of supervisory experience. Or four years of customer service experience, with at least two years in management or supervisory roles. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the necessary skills and knowledge are also acceptable. A Master's degree in public administration, recreation, or business administration is preferred.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Red Cross Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a food handlers permit.
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Leadership; ability to supervise and communicate effectively with subordinates and co-workers; develop a highly functioning team and a culture that is consistent with the department. Understanding of policies and procedures. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
