What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseperson position at Spark by Hilton?
Do you have an eye for detail and clean spaces? The Spark by Hilton is hiring in the housekeeping department. As a houseperson, you are to clean and maintain public areas. Collect laundry and remove trash while maintaining public areas. You are responsible for repairing and maintaining the hotel by ensuring quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security. A major part of your job is to be pro active in identifying potential issues and alerting the Chief Engineer so that proper action plan can be put in place. You should be able to maintain all aspects of the common areas and guest room’s areas to minimize the use of outside labor to maintain the hotel. Working in a hotel requires that you be available to work every day of the year, as the hotel never closes.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Cleans rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaner, broom, and shampoo machine.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, and restrooms.
- Washes-walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture, turns mattresses.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors. Collects soiled linen for laundering.
- Receives linen supplies.
- Stores linen supplies in floor linen closet
- Maintains housekeeping carts
- Removes trash collected by room attendants
- Ability to determine whether a guest is in the room so it can be worked in when it is unoccupied. Announce presence and enter guest room in accordance with company policies.
- Immediately return all lost and found items to the Head Housekeeper.
- Report all potential safety hazards to Chief Engineer and actively participate in safety meetings.
- Assist other hotel departments as necessary.
- Greets all guests and staff members in the hallways.
- Occasionally deliver luggage to guest rooms.
- Care for and maintains cleaning equipment including vacuums and chemical every day.
- Be a team player and assist other employees in various assignments, such as collecting/delivering linen to laundry, operating hotel shuttle.
- May require occasional overtime to include weeknights, weekends and holidays.
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, often for a minimum of 2 hours at a time.
- Must be able to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
- On occasion is required to climb up and down ladders.
- Must have general dexterity for firm and simple grasping of objects. Some tasks, such as the use of small repair tools, may also require fine dexterity skills.
- Must be able to periodically kneel, reach, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks.
- Must be able to push and/or pull 60% of the time, to include when using a cart to carry linens, trash, tools, etc, or when operating equipment such as a lawnmower, pavement sweeper, wheelbarrow, etc.
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 140 pounds with assistance.
