Job Description
Areya Management is now seeking a hands-on Hotel General Manager to fill our position at the soon to open Spark by Hilton, located in Carlisle PA.
Looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, goal-oriented individual that possesses excellent organizational skills. Someone who is willing to work 40 hours per week (days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed). Flexible schedule is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing all aspects of the hotel in accordance with company requirements including maximizing financial performance, high quality standards, superior guest satisfaction, sales and marketing, and overall staff hiring.
- A working knowledge of budgets, profit and loss (P&L) statements, and STAR reports.
- Creating an inviting environment that produces tremendous guest satisfaction.
- Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints by working directly with their teams at Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Sales.
- Monitors the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial reports.
- Develops accurate and aggressive short- and long-term financial objectives consistent with the budget, company goals, and investor expectations.
- Establishes and maintains proactive human resources to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established labor regulations.
- Ensures good safety practices assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and scrutiny procedures.
- Understands the regulations affecting hotel operations, ensures the hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state or municipal authority.
- Ability to source, hire, develop, and retain strong team members.
- Plans and organizes the work of employees under them.
- Accepts full responsibility for managing and hotel activity
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory responsibilities
Typically, directly supervises 10-20 employees at the hotel, including all supervisors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, training programs, and applicable laws.
Overseeing Human Resource matters including interviewing, hiring training, coaching/counseling, and performance management.
Education and/or Experience
Requires on-the-job experience, a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and preferably a two-year business degree or a four-year business or liberal arts degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Requires an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the-job training, and essential experience in less responsible hotel skill level and management positions.
Language skills
General Managers must be able to read and write in English fluently to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
Write routine reports, correspondence, business letters, and summaries using prescribed format, and confirming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
Ability to speak effectively in English before groups like guests and employees.
Computer Skills
General managers are required to have sufficient computer skills that will allow them to be able to use, in a proficient manner, all company issued software programs implemented at the hotel, including but not limited to:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Property Management Systems (PMS) Programs
- Central Reservations
- Payroll Programs
- Internet Browser Programs
- Electronic Mail
Hours
Primarily weekdays and during daytime hours, however times may vary based upon need, including a certain number of weekends and holidays regularly throughout the year. As needed for events, functions, group arrivals, guest services, etc.
