Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Prototype Estimator to join a dynamic manufacturing team. This role is pivotal in generating accurate and competitive quotes for prototype and low-volume production projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal stamping, robotic welding, and fabrication processes, ensuring precise cost estimations that align with project requirements and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer RFQs (Requests for Quotation), blueprints, and technical specifications to determine project scope and requirements
- Develop detailed cost estimates, considering materials, labor, machine time, tooling, and overhead
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for accurate quoting
- Utilize ERP systems to input and track quotation data, ensuring timely and efficient processing
- Maintain and update a database of historical costs and supplier pricing for future estimations
- Engage with suppliers to obtain current pricing for materials and outsourced services
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process
- Prepare and present quotation packages to internal stakeholders and, when necessary, to customers
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing estimating, preferably within the metal stamping and fabrication industry
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including stamping, welding, machining, and assembly
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred
