We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Contract Recruiter to join our team in a fully on-site position located in Hampton, Virginia. This role will be instrumental in supporting our recruitment efforts across various departments.
Job Summary :
The Contract Recruiter will be responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of recruitment and staffing strategies. This includes focusing on building a diverse pool of qualified candidates, while maintaining timeliness and cost-effectiveness throughout the hiring process.
Essential Job Functions :
- Provide exceptional customer service to job applicants regarding employment opportunities and the application process.
- Support recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel (excluding managerial levels and above).
- Execute the recruitment plan by actively sourcing qualified candidates from diverse sources, managing the selection process (including interviewing, candidate assessment, screening, administering tests, and recommending finalists), and fulfilling staffing needs within established service and performance criteria.
- Respond to candidate and department inquiries (via email, phone, and in-person) regarding recruitment status and personnel procedures. Assist applicants with the application process, including online submissions.
- Facilitate the interview process, including scheduling interviews and appointments, participating in interview panels, managing new hire paperwork, and inputting new hire data into the HR system.
- Conduct background checks (as permitted by law) and maintain the confidentiality of all related materials and information.
- Schedule and track new hires for post-offer screenings. Address new hire questions regarding policies, benefits, work schedules, working conditions, and other related information.
- Prepare and extend offers to selected candidates. Ensure proper paperwork flow.
- Prepare and distribute communication to unsuccessful candidates.
- Input, update, retrieve, and track applicant data and pre-employment information in the HR system.
- Ensure all recruitment documents are proofread and error-free. Maintain confidentiality of documents and results.
- Contribute to the development of strategies to recruit, hire, and retain a high-performing workforce.
- Assist in developing recruiting materials.
- Conduct outreach and field recruitment activities, including participation in on-site interviews and group presentations.
- Adhere to equal employment opportunity guidelines, supporting non-discriminatory hiring practices, and actively seeking applications from diverse candidates.
- Assist with new employee orientation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills :
This position requires a highly perceptive individual with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sensitivity to organizational needs, employee relations, and public image. Strong interviewing skills, knowledge of recruiting methods and techniques, and a deep understanding of diversity in the workplace are essential. The ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information is critical. A professional demeanor and positive presentation are necessary. Excellent time management and organizational skills are required, including the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and complete various tasks, assignments, projects, and reports. Must have experience with Workday.
