POSITION SUMMARY :
Sparkstone Electrical Group is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our procurement team. This role is responsible for purchasing and managing materials and components required for the manufacturing of engineered-to-order (ETO) electrical equipment. The Buyer will work closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials while optimizing cost and maintaining inventory levels.
POSITION LOCATION : Addison, Illinois
Onsite five days a week
In This Role You Will :
Procurement : Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials and electrical components in accordance with engineering specifications and industry requirements. Supplier Management : Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage supplier performance to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met. Order Management : Issue purchase orders, track order status, and expedite deliveries as needed to support production schedules. Cost Control : Work to reduce costs while maintaining quality and performance by analyzing pricing, negotiating contracts, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Inventory & Demand Planning : Collaborate with production planning to ensure optimal inventory levels and prevent shortages or excess stock. Compliance & Quality Assurance : Ensure all purchased materials meet required specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, production, and logistics teams to support new product development, resolve supply chain issues, and improve overall efficiency. ERP & Data Management : Maintain accurate purchasing records in the company’s ERP system, including supplier data, pricing, and order history.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ERP / MRP systems for procurement and inventory management, NetSuite preferred.
- Purchasing experience, preferably in an engineered-to-order or custom manufacturing environment.
- Willing and able to spend time on the factory floor to oversee material flow, coordinate with production teams, and ensure seamless alignment between procurement and manufacturing operations.
- Strong Microsoft Office applications required; Power BI preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and data analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments, including the production workforce.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
