Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to oversee shipyard projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipbuilding, repair, or maritime engineering, with expertise in project management, resource allocation, and cross-functional team leadership. This role requires coordination between clients, engineers, production teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in program or project management within the shipbuilding, defense, or maritime industry.
- Strong knowledge of shipyard operations, manufacturing, and repair processes.
- Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of maritime regulations, ABS/NAVSEA standards, and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Ability to work on-site in shipyard environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end shipyard projects, including new construction, retrofits, and repairs.
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring adherence to contract requirements.
- Manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, welders, fitters, and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies (e.g., ABS, NAVSEA, Coast Guard).
- Monitor and mitigate risks related to schedule delays, cost overruns, and technical challenges.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and maritime safety regulations.
- Conduct progress reviews and status reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize shipyard processes and efficiency.
- Lead contract negotiations, change orders, and procurement coordination with suppliers.
- Resolve technical and operational challenges by collaborating with engineering and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent.
- Experience managing government contracts (DoD, Navy, Coast Guard, etc.).
- Background in ship design, engineering, or naval architecture.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies.
