Job Title: Material Manager
Location: Muskegon, MI (Onsite)
Salary: $60,000 - $85,000 per year
Position Summary:
The Material Manager will oversee and optimize material planning, procurement, inventory control, and supply chain processes. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and cost-effective flow of materials required for production while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials management within the automobile industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure production schedules are met.
Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to streamline supply chain operations.
Monitor inventory levels and establish effective inventory control systems to reduce waste and optimize costs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
Analyze material usage and forecast requirements to prevent production delays.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Lead and mentor the materials team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Technical Skills & Experience:
Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Global Shop Solutions).
Experience with supply chain planning (lead times, safety stock, max/min settings, APS).
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
Automotive or defense industry knowledge (Tier 1 supplier standards).
Expertise in inventory management, including counting, month-end routines, and maintaining accuracy.
Ability to set up and maintain part numbers, BOMs, routers, and supply chain records.
Strong skills in supplier evaluation, selection, and relationship building.
Experience negotiating terms, delivery requirements, and pricing with suppliers.
Capability to manage supplier KPIs and performance scoring.
